About

Violins, viola and celli made in the finest tradition with quality European aged tone wood. My interest in violin making dates from 1984, a year before attending “The Welsh School of Violin Making”. Instruments are not made to commission. Once an instrument is made it is released for sale.

My philosophy in making has gone through many changes. Currently I make with a very free spirit with little interest in making exact replicas of old masters. Let’s face it most makers are doing this and it’s a bit boring. My belief is to replicate the spirit of the old masters, placing the main focus on sound, ease of play and of course good looks. Instruments are typically not symmetrical in outline as is seen with mass produced instruments and even a lot of modern hand made ones as well. Strad or Guarneri never made a symmetrical instrument and look what happened to them! What’s it all about? A maker that is in touch with his craft and who draws on more than 30 years of experience to create an instrument full of character, easy of play and with a great sound.
